As a provider of FE simulation software and FE simulation services with a focus on mechanical engineering, we know how good and effective communication between design and simulation works in a development project.

When we are contracted as a simulation service provider for a new project, the design is often already in the detailing stage and the basic design has already been determined. Using FE analysis and specifically chain analysis, we identify potential weaknesses and suggest possible design improvements.

At this point, our customers quickly realize that the proposed changes are only possible with a great deal of effort because the design is already highly detailed. The simulation can only partially unfold its true potential.

At first glance, simulation appears to be an additional effort. However, this is not the case, because the additional time invested in simulation at the beginning can be saved many times over in the further development process in terms of time and costs:

  • Detailed design, then simulation after each iteration loop causes high effort on your part and high costs on the part of the simulation service provider
  • Design and early simulation from a single source drastically reduces the need for coordination
  • Designing without simulation can lead to high costs later on (e.g.: additional prototypes, reordering of parts after commissioning)

For this reason, early simulation in the development process is of paramount importance. Therefore, we offer simulation-driven mechanical design in the early development phase as a service and take over the design from idea and concept generation to the basic mechanical design. We leave the detailing of the design to you. This gives us the opportunity to iterate between design and simulation in very fast internal cycles.

  • Step 1: We create simple, easily configurable simulation models that qualitatively represent the basic behavior and adjust parameters to find the optimal basic design. This can be done entirely without CAD design and is therefore very fast.
  • Step 2: We create an initial CAD model and the requirements are again verified by simulation.
  • Step 3: Finally, the CAD design is adjusted and optimized iteratively and simulation-driven. You get the final result in the form of a CAD model and a simulation report, which underpins the course of the design with simulation results.
